OrphFund - photography and fight for street children and orphans
This is a group aiming at presenting photos by anyone who has encountered street children and orphans, whether it be while traveling or within their local community. A true platform for happiness, photography is a very powerful, influential visual medium and device. When capturing moments and memories, we ciment them into images that can draw different reactions and convey different messages to the viewers. Through these posted photographs from the group's skillful members, may our message be one of CHANGE in global thoughts and attitude towards the gap between the UNDERpriviledged and the OVERpriviledged. My name is Anne-Sophie and I am volunteering for a wonderful small-scale NGO named OrphFund. We function entirely on the dedication of our volunteers (who are all from different countries in the world). We have done school and orphanage building projects in Cambodia, Tibet, Ghana and the most recent one took place in Sierra Leone in January and February 2008. We offer professional training to the youth and set up farming and agriculture initiatives in the communities we are helping. Our aim is to offer security, food, education and health care through sustainable schemes to those children who are vulnerable due to poverty, diseases, disasters, war or exploitation. We believe that every single child on Earth has the right of EDUCATION and SECURITY. I know YOU believe it too. With this group, I would like to create a pool of people "who care" about the fate of those children. Things have to and will change! If YOU WANT TO to help in any way, fundraise with us, become a volunteer or have suggestions/questions about any of Orphfund's projects, please do not hesitate to contact me orphfund@yahoo.ca AND visit www.orphfund.org
The Majority World: Photos of Hope
Photographs from the majority (developing) world that are full of hope. Often the majority world is portrayed as one devoid of hope. We wish to shatter that image and focus on the positive, for a change. GROUP RULES: 1. Members can post two photos per day. 2. The photo must attempt to show some joy, happiness or hope. 3. Photos should be from the majority (developing) world. 4. After posting a photo, please comment on one photo from the pool that gives you a sense of hope.
